The 2025 Climate Action Plan Launch, hosted by the Office of Sustainability, will officially introduce UCR's Climate Action Plan, set for completion by December 31, 2025. This event will feature discussions and interactive sessions on key topics, including GHG emissions inventory and forecasting, reduction targets, climate action development, risk assessment, stakeholder engagement, and education. Open to UCR students, staff, faculty, and community members, this event offers an opportunity to collaborate, learn, and contribute to UCR’s sustainability efforts.

Join us for an engaging talk by Dr. Francesca Hopkins, Lead Researcher for California’s Fifth Climate Change Assessment in the Inland Deserts region. This event will provide an in-depth look at the unique challenges and opportunities facing the Mojave, Sonoran, and Colorado deserts, as well as key agricultural areas like the Coachella and Imperial Valleys. Learn about the impacts of extreme heat, water scarcity, and ecosystem stress on local communities and economies, and discover strategies for resilience and adaptation. In addition, our very own ISC3 College Corps students will share highlights from their Youth Voices Series interviews, where they’ve captured insights from UCR students about their perspectives on climate change and its impacts. Our students will present the key feedback they’ve received from their peers and staff, shedding light on campus-wide views about the role of individuals and institutions in addressing the climate crisis. Whether you are a student, researcher, policymaker, or community member, this event will equip you with valuable insights into building a climate-resilient future for California's Inland Deserts while amplifying youth perspectives on this critical issue. Join the Provost and Deans at UC Riverside for a discussion on the university's progress in sustainability. The Deans Panel on Sustainability, led by the Provost-Vice Chancellor, will highlight key advancements aligned with UCR 2030, focusing on enhancing AASHE STARS by supporting the Office of Sustainability in integrating sustainability into the campus curriculum, funding the Academic Sustainability Director, and co-funding a Graduate Student Researcher to drive sustainability initiatives. Key success metrics include developing a methodology to identify sustainability-related courses, cataloging existing sustainability courses, and establishing a system to highlight these courses. Students, staff, faculty, and community members are encouraged to RSVP, attend, and be part of the conversation.
