STARS
Sustainable, Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS)
STARS is a program of AASHE (Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education). It is a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure their sustainability performance. Through participating in STARS, UCR can earn points toward a STARS Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum Rating, or earn the STARS Reporter designation. Each seal represents significant sustainability leadership.The institution is rated based on four broad categories: Academics, Engagement, Operations, and Planning & Administration. Our last time submission was in 2016 where we achieved a Gold rating. STARS is important because it provides us with a full spectrum view of sustainability at UCR, highlights areas of improvement, and allows us to see what potential projects we can be working on.
