Join us for April’s Sustainability Lecture Series titled "Carbon offsets History, Programs & Projects, and the State of UCs Innovations & Improvements in relation to Carbon Offsets." The talk and discussion will be hosted by Barbara Haya, Ph.D., a research Fellow at the California Institute for Energy and Environment at UC Berkeley.

UC’s Carbon Neutrality Initiative commits all ten UC campuses to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2025. In 2025, UC will need to procure carbon offsets to cover any remaining emissions from on-site This talk will discuss UC’s innovative approach to carbon offset procurement, which prioritizes high quality offsets that directly contribute to UC’s mission of research, education, and public service. This offset experiment will inform other institutions that wish to develop offset programs that meaningfully reduce emissions and embrace the multiple priorities and strengths of those institutions.
