There are nine focus areas that correspond to sustainability topics of concern to the university: built environment, energy and climate protection, water, sites, transportation, recycling and waste management, procurement, food, and academics and research. Given the interdisciplinary nature of sustainability issues, all nine focus areas are complimentary and interconnected.
