Map Dispose of your electronic waste the right way.
We can help!
Each year tons of electronic waste end up in landfills. In 2000, EPA estimated over 4.6 miillon tons of e-waste ended up in U.S landfills. This can have many negative implications because the toxic chemicals in electronic products (such as color CRT’’s computer monitors, color TV tubes, and smaller items such as cell phones and other “hand-held’s”) test “hazardous” and can leach into land over time and/or be released into the atmosphere. Because of imminent threats e-waste poses, the Federal law requires special handling and proper disposal of these products.
The University of California Riverside/Environmental Health & Safety realizes the strategic value of environmental sustainability and social responsibility we have to reduce waste generation and conserve natural resources. Our E-waste drive is a great opportunity for you to dispose of electronics that have reached the end of their useful lives or become obsolete. see attached for acceptable materials. Come and show your support! Last year's event generated 40,000 pounds of electronic-waste in just 5 hrs. Help us reach new heights this year!
